wine glasses web

I'm off to South Africa and somehow, instead of being a purely private trip, it has become a rush from south to north with tastings and talks in between. All organised by good friends and wine lovers  Cobie and Bjorn of CVO Marketing. Be that as it may and despite all my grunts to the opposite effect, I am actually looking forward to it! They've organised a "taste-off" ...

Too much of a good thing…

February 11th, 2010 | Read Full Post

shfeb10 005 Claims from a leading academic in Australia recently that the national vineyard area should be reduced by somewhere between 20-30% in order to sorrect the current demand-supply imbalance and focus the countries efforts into reclaiming a higher price point for its wine. Proof of Terroir…

February 8th, 2010 | Read Full Post

Looking at this video from the Cortes de Cima winery in Portugal is a reminder to me how the only real point of difference in wine is terroir - that untranslatable, difficult-to-define French word, which is something akin to the combination of individual place/people/practices where each unique parcel of grapes is created. The winery as seen in the video could just as ...
