Revival

WineNZ magazine published a feature article titled “Sandihurst’s Revival” in their Spring/Summer 2009 edition (Low res copy here). Listening to what is being said about the industry in general, I think it could just as easily have been titled “Sandihurst’s Survival”! It is tough out there in the market place but despite the general negativity, I can’t help but be positive about the future.
People are not going to stop consuming good wine. The challenge lies in finding the way to have them consume our wine when choosing between the myriad of good wines available. Perception rules and what we regard as someone’s perception is that person’s reality. And perception so often comes about because of PR & Marketing and Advertising. And the producer having a large budget…
But then we have ‘word of mouth’ (quite appropriate when talking about wine). The best form of advertising ever. Taste it and talk about it. Talk about it and taste it. Do I have a New Year’s resolution? You bet – here’s to many tastings and many talks in 2010!
